And not only nature counts as the only tourist attraction; there are also multiple prehistoric caves that relate our past with amazing similarities to the well-known Asturian caves, historical locations like Foix, indelible traces of the Qatar pilgrimage escaping from the massacres like the one in the castle of Montsegur, the last refuge of Cathars, still preserved roads that many French people followed during the WWII to escape the bombs and cross the border with Spain through the Pyrenees through the so-called Freedom Road.
We will stay in the town of Saint Lizier, with a Roman past and a good list of monuments listed as World Heritage by Unesco, and from our base camp, we will make daily trips to discover the least known tourist region of the Pyrenees.
The marmots, chamois and bears from the Ariège pyrinero await us. On the way back we tell you.
