Tomorrow I will board a plane to fly to Venice. Three days of cruising await me on the occasion of the inauguration of a new cruise ship of the Costa Cruises company. The new baby is called Fabulous and apparently it is the jewel in the crown of the Italian shipbuilding.
Honestly, I never thought I'd get on a cruise before I turned sixty. My travel style is the backpack and the minimum preparation of the tour so that the locals, the landscape and the mood of the day show me the way. And you look where at 36 I will debut in the glamor of boarding a newly painted cruise, gala dinners and all the luxuries that this huge castle encloses over the sea.
The Favolosa hides in its interior more than 1,500 cabins, five restaurants, 13 bars, 5 hot tubs, 4 swimming pools one of them with slide included and another with thalassotherapy treatment, spas, saunas, a sports court, a giant outdoor screen, a 4D cinema, a three-story theater, a PlayStation area, a casino, a disco, do I still?
It will be three days on the cruise and I am sure that on the last day I will go through the halls as lost as on the first. I think I better guide myself on the mountain with the map, with the compass and the backpack in tow. The suit, shirt and endless corridors are usually a strange scenario for a Viajablog editor. In this life you have to be open to everything and I am very curious to know from the inside what a cruise of these magnitudes is like and what options it gives the tourist who abandons himself to pleasure and rest in a giant of the ocean like this.Find the best and varied cruise deals through our partner with guaranteed discounts:
For the inauguration we will make a three-day journey from Venice to Trieste where the usual act of baptism will take place throwing a bottle of champagne on the ship - I hope you keep the Moët Chandon for dinner. I will have a few hours in each of the Italian cities to visit them and I took the opportunity to take the last possible flight on Sunday to enjoy Venice as much as possible.
On the way back I will tell you about the cruise experience and the relevant visits to Venice and Trieste. Of course, do not expect a chronicle based and experienced on cruises but the humble opinion of a backpacker accustomed to other completely different trips!
