The best beaches to enjoy with your family south of Barcelona

The beaches around Barcelona are eclipsed by the beautiful coves that we find along the Costa Brava as well as on the extensive coastline of Tarragona.

However, a few kilometers from Barcelona we can find clean, wide beaches, with their prepared beach bars that will serve for an excellent getaway to the beach as a family, as a couple or as one desires.

In this article we will focus on our favorite beaches south of Barcelona at a safe distance and they offer easy access either by car or public transport.

Viladecans - The Philippines Beach

In the town of Viladecans, right next to the mouth of the Llobregat Delta, this beautiful beach opens to touch the natural park of the Llobregat Delta.

The dunes and vegetation make this beach a place with a much more natural and wild style than most beaches on the coast with its promenade and properly structured blue areas.

The planes that land at the nearby airport offer some original snapshots and may be scared when they fly along the beach.

There is a nudist and a conventional zone. You will also find a beach bar and a nearby campsite with all kinds of facilities. The parking area is wide, a part of payment and another part. During the months of July and August it is convenient to arrive very early or late in the afternoon to find parking safely.

The beach offers views of a breakwater and behind us the Garraf massif covers us with some visual damage due to the huge quarries that have eroded part of the mountains of the natural park. The waters, as in most of the south of Barcelona, are of little depth during the first hundred meters.

It is a very familiar beach where the first coastline is usually booked very early. There are volleyball courts, showers, beach bar and sun loungers and parasols for rent.

In the beach bar they offer some toast with sausage at about six euros that are not bad at all. The half-liter Mahou reeds come in great.

Castelldefels - Playa de la Pineda

Just 30 minutes from Barcelona, the town of Castelldefels offers the door to the Garraf massif as well as an extensive coastline with several beaches such as El Baixador, Les Lluminete and La Pineda. The three are very similar, with a wide promenade where you will find all kinds of restaurants to eat.

With fine sand and barely deep in the water during the first section, the Castelldefels beach rises as a very interesting attraction thanks to its proximity and easy access even with public transport using the commuter train.

Sitges - Platja de Sant Sebastià

The beautiful town of Sitges has always been a claim for artists, also for the Catalan and international gay community and even more than one player of the Futbol Club Barcelona has had its residence in this enclave with the famous silhouette of its bell tower facing the sea.

The great gastronomic offer that we find on its promenade is another great claim to alternate sun and beach with a good rice or seafood. Also, the proximity to the train station gives us easy access both by car and by public transport.

The beach of Sant Sebastià is located in the heart of Sitges and with its approximate two hundred meters it gives us a perfect alternative with a beach in good condition, clean waters and a varied selection of beach bars, restaurants, showers, rental of umbrellas and tombonas and a long etcetera.
